How the conversion works
CGPA to percentage formula
Percentage = CGPA × conversion multiplier
For example, using a ×9.5 multiplier, a CGPA of 8.2 converts to 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.9%. If your institution uses ×10, the same CGPA converts to 82%.
Convert percentage back to CGPA
Use the same multiplier in reverse: CGPA = Percentage ÷ conversion multiplier. For example, 77.9% ÷ 9.5 = 8.2 CGPA.
Which multiplier should I use?
Conversion rules vary by university, board, and program. The ×9.5 and ×10 options are common examples, but neither is universal. Check the grading policy or transcript instructions from your institution before using a converted score for an application.
